About the facility 

The Barwon Health Eating Disorder Service is a specialist multidisciplinary team providing assessment and treatment to young people (0-25 years) and their families presenting with an eating disorder, or at risk of an eating disorder. The team is located within the Child and Youth Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol program.

The service is a leader in the delivery and evaluation of evidence based treatments for eating disorders and collaborative models of care including Family Based Treatment (FBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy- Enhanced (CBT-E), Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Multi-family Therapy (MFT), Collaborative Care Skills Workshop for carers and Motivational Interviewing. There is a strong focus on secondary consultation to the broader service, public and private sectors.

About the role

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the role of the clinician is to participate in the assessment and delivery of evidence-based treatment to individuals and their families presenting with an eating disorder. As well as provide primary and secondary consultation to the broader service in relation to eating disturbance or disorder.

Duties of your role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake regular mental state examination and risk assessment
  • Maintain effective and timely communication with other health providers involved in the young person’s care
  • Document and clinically review client care within usual team processes and procedures in the client medical file

Essential: Clinical qualification and AHPRA registration in clinical psychology, occupational therapy or mental health nursing.
Essential: Social workers must be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Essential: High level clinical skills related to the assessment and management of children and young people experiencing eating disorders.
