About the role 

Barwon Health is now recruiting Critical Care Residents for 2021, with this position also comes the opportunity for candidates to identify if they would be interested in partaking in the Critical Care year with the Emergency Department Certificate. Candidates can identify the preference for this when answering the Key Selection Criteria for the role.

If successful for the Critical Care Year you will rotate through Anaesthetics, Intensive Care Unit, Cardiology and Hamilton.

The Critical Care Year plus the Emergency Medicine Certificate will be offered by the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM). The Emergency Medicine Certificate (EMC) Training Program provides doctors working in emergency departments (EDs) with adequate knowledge and sufficient clinical experience to be safe and efficient practitioners. The EMC is a six-month competency-based training program conducted in an Emergency Setting under the supervision of an approved EMC Supervisor. The position offered includes 3 months at UHG ED under direct supervision of a FACEM and 3 months at the Hamilton Base hospital. The UHG FACEMs visit Hamilton Base Hospital on a monthly basis and are available weekly to review and discuss cases,  The EMC can also be the pathway to complete a Diploma in Emergency Medicine also offered by ACEM.

As a Hospital Medical Officer you will provide effective supervised day to day clinical management of both ambulatory and admitted patients/resident/clients within Barwon Health whilst fulfilling Medical Board of Australia pre-registration training requirements.
