About the facility 

 The Infection Prevention Service (IPS) provides Barwon Health with a comprehensive Infection Prevention Program. Qualified Clinical Nurse Consultants are based at Geelong Hospital, McKellar Centre and Community and Mental Health. The primary role of Infection Prevention is to prevent patients from acquiring preventable healthcare associated infections and effectively manage infections when they occur by using evidence based strategies. The Infection Prevention staff research, develop and update guidelines in line with best practice. 

 About the role 

 The Manager is responsible for the management of the nursing team in Barwon Health Infection Prevention Service by ensuring the provision of an efficient and effective high quality service in accordance with the organisation’s strategic direction and the Infection Prevention Service Annual Business Plan.

Desirable: Graduate qualifications in Infection Control
Desirable: Extensive clinical knowledge, skills and experience in Infection Control
Desirable: Experience in development & implementation of policy and procedures and outbreak management
Desirable: Knowledge and experience of DHHS mandatory reporting requirements
Desirable: Experience in leading and managing teams
Desirable: Masters in Advanced Nursing Practice or equivalent qualification
Desirable: Excellent organisational and time management skills
Desirable: Excellent IT, data analysis and report writing skills
Desirable: Well-developed management and leadership skills
Desirable: Ability to initiate and implement change
