About the Facility

University Hospital Geelong is 60mins from Melbourne located on Corio Bay and 25 mins from Victoria’s Surf Coast. The Emergency Department manages a diverse clinical workload including trauma, acute cardiac, respiratory and 25% paediatric cases. We currently offer a multidisciplinary team environment operating in state-of-the-art facilities having undergone a $28 million dollar redevelopment and is led by an experienced FACEM team.

About the role

University Hospital Geelong, is seeking to recruit Full time and Part Time FACEMs to our Emergency Department. A growing ED attendance; 67500 (‘15/’16) & expansion (Oct 2016) to our short stay capacity, including a new paediatric short stay unit, requires an increase in FACEM EFT.

Your duties will include;

  • Primary responsibility for adult and paediatric patients in ED & Short stay
  • Team leadership and supervision on ED floor to Medical & Nursing staff.
  • Liaison with referring GPs, Hospitals & Ambulance Victoria regarding patients coming to ED.
  • Teaching Fellowship Primary, Intern & Residents, Deakin University and an active Regional & Rural EMET program.
  • Knowledge and experience in the broad practice of Emergency Medicine, including adult medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry, trauma, toxicology.
  • Knowledge & skills with IT systems would be preferable

Successful applicants must hold fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine; Applications from FACEMs with Paediatric subspecialty would be encouraged.
