Position Summary

Three temporary, full time positions (80 hours per fortnight) are available for Registered Nurses to explore the specialty area of Community Nursing within a supported clinical environment.

These roles are based at the Community Health sites of Belmont, Corio and Newcomb, all temporary full time - 12 month contracts Feb 2017 - Feb 2018.

About the program

The Specialist Year position will allow you to gain clinical experience in home based nursing services – Hospital in the Home (HITH), Palliative care (CPC), Post-acute care (PAC), Home and Community Care (HACC), Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). Clinical support and assessment for these roles is undertaken by experienced nursing staff and/or Clinical Nurse Educator.

Clinical assessments comprise 50% of the program and include completion of clinical skill assessments; setting clinical objectives; and clinical progress appraisal. The theoretical component will enable you to explore and develop a basic knowledge of Community Nursing. This component includes study day attendance, an assignment and a presentation. The Centre for Education and Practice Development provides financial assistance for study day attendance.

These positions will commence on the 13th February 2017. On successful completion of this 52-week program, a hospital certificate will be awarded and participants can apply for advanced standing toward tertiary study.

Selection Criteria Desirable: Are you registered with AHPRA as a Registered Division 1 Nurse?
Desirable: Minimum of 12 months recent post registration acute general experience or similar?
Desirable: Current Victorian Drivers Licence?
