About the University Geelong Hospital

The University Hospital Geelong has 406 beds and provides a full suite of medical and surgical services, and is the second busiest emergency department and provider of paediatric surgery in the state.

Barwon Health has an extensive building projects occurring with a new acute wing, an integrated cancer/ wellness day unit, redeveloped library, education and research facilities, a northern suburbs urgent care/specialist consultation services facility and women’s  and children hospital development.

About the role

We have an opportunity for a visionary, passionate and experienced Occupational Therapist in acute care to lead the medical stream in the Occupational Therapy Department at University Hospital Geelong. This includes Occupational Therapy services in the emergency department, short stay unit, rapid assessment unit, medical wards and neurology ward. The shares Occupational Therapy operation responsibilities for inpatient acute staff (totalling 15.3 eft) with the Grade 3 Occupational Therapist responsible for the surgical stream. One in four Weekends rostered work is expected.

You will be part of a large Occupational Therapy community of over 150 staff. Comprehensive orientation will be provided, access to professional development is available.

We have a strong partnership with Deakin University for education and research. Presenting joint research projects at various conferences and publications. And active with research projects for the 4th year Deakin University Innovation and Evaluation Placements.

This role requires you to possess excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal aptitudes. A high level of commitment to best practice in patient care is a must.
