 About Our Operating Services

 We have 2 main areas where Scrub/Scout Nurses work at Barwon Health

Main Operating Theatre (Operational 24 Hrs/ day)

Main theatres at Barwon Health provide a 24 hour service to the community across 10 Operating Theatres. We not only provide access for Elective Surgery but also Semi Urgent and Emergency procedures. The specialities include Cardiothoracics, ENT, Gastroenterology, General Surgery,  Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Oral Faciomaxillary, Plastics, Orthopaedics, Opthalmology, Urology, Vascular and Robotic Surgery. 

Gretta Volum Centre (GVC) and Youang Surgery Centre (YSC) (Operational Monday-Friday 0700-2000Hrs).

Both YSC and GVC work collaboratively to provide care for patients undergoing Elective surgery at Barwon Health.

GVC has two operating theatres and one endoscopy procedure room. Services are provided to patients undergoing a broad range of surgical and diagnostic procedures with specialties including, Paediatric surgery, Ophthalmology, General surgery, ECT, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Lithotripsy, ENT, Endoscopy, Pain management, Cardio version and Dental.  

Youang Surgery Centre consists of 4 new theatres, we cover off on General surgery, urology, max fax, ENT, Gynaecology, Plastics.

• Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and excellent clinical skills,
• Provide evidence based, high quality care to patients.
• Deliver consumer-centred care that meets best practice standards and in line with Barwon Health requirements
