About the facility 

Barwon Health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health services with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.

The Outpatient Department at UHG aims to provide specialist patient-focused care for consumers in the Geelong and surrounding Barwon South Western region. We have grown in an attempt to meet the demand of the growing population now covering four sites and managing an average of 4,500 referrals per month.

About the role

As a Registered Nurse within the Outpatient team you will ensure the provision of patient-focused holistic nursing care incorporating the care of patients presenting for diagnosis confirmation, preoperative planning and post-operative management.

Essential: Recent acute Surgical experience.
Essential: Wound management experience.
Essential: The confidence to work in a variety of specialty areas.
Essential: Degree level qualification with a recognised educational institution in nursing (or other if required), such as Bachelor of Nursing.
Essential: Registered Nurse/Midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) together with demonstrated ability to meet the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) competencies for the Registered Nurse/Midwife.
Essential: I agree, to commence employment, I am required to meet Barwon Health’s immunisation requirements (including full Covid-19 and Influenza vaccination) set out in the Staff Immunisation Policy. I acknowledge that meeting this requirement is mandatory and a condition of employment subsequently offered.
