About the facility 

Barwon Medical Imaging (BMI) provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic services including X-Ray, OPG, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Angiography, Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine. These are performed by a team of highly skilled radiologists, radiographers, sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists, nurses and support staff who ensure that all patients have access to quality services.

At Barwon Health, Ultrasound services are provided at University Hospital Geelong, Geelong Private Hospital and the McKellar Centre.

About the role 

As the Grade 2 Radiographer/Medical Imaging Technologist you will support the Grade 3 Radiographer/Medical Imaging Technologist in the management of the X-Ray service 24/7.

As the Grade 2 Radiographer/Medical Imaging Technologist, you will be required to:

  • Provide a high quality and safe service that is accessible and sustainable 
  • Independently operate all diagnostic imaging equipment including information systems (RIS/PACS/CR/DR, BOSS and Symphony)
  • Accept complete responsibility for the production of medical images. Such responsibility begins with the acceptance of a proper request for examination and is fulfilled when the complete examination is presented to the radiologist for reporting.

Desirable: Significant experience in general x-ray and/or supervision of other staff
Essential: As required under the Radiation Act 2005 the Radiographer / MIT must hold current registration with the Medical Radiation Technologists Board of Australia (MRTBA) under the auspices of AHPRA
Essential: Current Victorian Government, Department of Health, Radiation ‘Use Licence’.
Essential: Tertiary qualification recognised by the Australian Institute of Radiography (AIR)
Essential: Expert practitioner in the selected modality
Desirable: Competency in the operation of a digital radiography (DR), 64 slice CT, and digital fluoroscopy systems
Desirable: Radiographers training in MRI must have passed MRI Part 1 Accreditation (or equivalent)
Desirable: Radiographers training in ultrasound for 12 months and enrolled in the GDMU
