About the role 

The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) works within the Physiotherapy and broader inter-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality evidence based therapy to inpatient clients at our rehabilitation and acute sites. As an AHA, you will be referred clients by a Physiotherapist to provide individual therapy, run exercise groups and assist the Physiotherapist with more dependant clients, with the goal of assisting clients to achieve their optimal functional outcomes during their inpatient stay. There is also a small non-clinical component to the role (administration, cleaning, etc.).

The Allied Health Assistant will work closely with the Physiotherapy and interdiciplinary teams to support patients to achive their inpatient physical goals and their optimal physical outcome.

Whilst based in the Physiotherapy Department, this role may involve working as an AHA across Allied Health disciplines.

Selection Criteria Essential: • One of the following qualifications: o Certificate III or IV or higher qualification as an Allied Health Assistant o Bachelor degree or Post Graduate Masters in a relevant health science area o Undergraduate Physiotherapy Student
Essential: • Eligible for Physiotherapy Assistant membership of the Australian Physiotherapy Association.
Desirable: Current unrestricted Victorian/Australian Motor Vehicle driver's licence
Desirable: • Previous experience working within a health care setting
Essential: • Strong communication, interpersonal and team work skills
Essential: • Well-developed problem solving skills
Essential: • Effective time management and prioritisation skills.
