About the facility 

MHDAS provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.

Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive. We are fortunate to enjoy terrific internal relationships and have developed excellent partnerships with the local community that provide for seamless integrated care for our clients.

About the role 

Your primary responsibility in this role is to provide contemporary education within an evidence framework, integrating principles of transformational learning, values base teaching and practice development concepts, in line with the MHDAS Model of Care and Barwon Health values. This will be evidenced by the facilitation of innovative teaching and learning opportunities that support the translation of theory into clinical practice environments, and the empowerment of nurses and health workers in developing knowledge and skill proficiency, critical thinking and reasoning skills.

Essential: Post graduate qualification in MHN
Essential: Experience with working in education withing public MHS
Essential: Minimum 5 years experience in public MHS or equivalent
Desirable: Partial/ workining towards or completion of Masters degree in MHN
Desirable: MHFA and or ASIST trainer
Desirable: experience within/ working with the university sector in MHN
