About Barwon Health Residential Aged Care Services
Our aged care services provide a rounded and community-orientated approach to the well-being and lifestyle of our consumers. Facilities are located at the McKellar Centre (North Geelong) and at Alan David Lodge (Charlemont) and provide approximately 400 residential aged care beds. Our services include high and low care, aged persons mental health, dementia specific care and respite. Our Residential Aged Care program supports the best nurse/resident ratios in Geelong, the wider Barwon South-West region and the state, helping us achieve an above standard level of care.
Looking for a graduate nurse program in the residential aged care setting in 2018?
Barwon Health are looking for graduate nurses who are currently completing a Bachelor of Nursing degree to join a well-established and supportive graduate program commencing early in 2018. The Specialist Nursing in Aged Care Graduate Program offers graduates the opportunity to complete two rotations (6 months each) across our residential aged care facilities; Wallace Lodge, Blakiston Lodge and Alan David Lodge. An education program tailored to the needs of this specialist area of nursing will be provided to enhance what is learnt clinically.
All Barwon Health graduates can expect to join a program that offers great clinical support and guidance whilst challenging you to be your best. The program offers the following:
- 53 week program
- Work 64 hours/fortnight
- Dedicated graduate team
- Clinical skills workshops prior to starting your graduate program
- Orientation program and study days throughout the year
- Supernumerary time in each rotation
- Weekly graduate professional development, further learning and completion of competencies

- Letter of application (no more than one page), addressed to:

- Concise CV (no more than three pages) listing all clinical placements including health service name, clinical area, type of placement and length and dates of placement (table format)
- Name and direct contact details of 2 current clinical referees
- Most recent official academic transcript including the key to results
Applicants progressing to the interview stage will be notified in writing via post. Applicants will be asked to provide further documentation at the time of interview. This will be outlined when invitations to interview are made.
Interviews will take place in August and September at the McKellar Education and Training Centre, North Geelong. Phone interviews will not be offered.
Successful applicants will be notified via PMCV computer match on Tuesday, 10th October, 2017.
