About the facility

University Hospital Geelong is a 400-bed University affiliated teaching hospital in a beautiful bay city setting with access to a renowned surf coast with excellent lifestyle and sporting facilities.  There are many local cultural activities and only 55 minutes away are the extensive facilities of Melbourne, the State capital. The department of Anaesthesia, Peri-operative & Pain Medicine supports a wide range of clinical anaesthetic services including cardiac with a strong emphasis on TOE, obstetric and paediatric services, regional anaesthesia and a benchmark Peri-operative Service. The multi-disciplinary Pain Medicine service is recognized for training by the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the College of Anaesthetists.  The Department has a strong commitment to excellence in clinical, education, quality, and research activities, and has a significant interest in development of processes of care, including IT systems.

About the role

A temporary part-time vacancy has become available for a Specialist anaesthetist. As the successful applicant you will be a positive, enthusiastic, team-orientated Consultant to join this friendly Department of 21 Staff Consultants, 25 Visiting part-time Consultants and 16 Registrars and Provisional Fellows. Sub-speciality interests are encouraged within the post. The specialist component will form only a part of your total workload. Commencement date: 1st January, 2017.

Excellent pay and conditions will be in accordance with the Barwon Health Staff Anaesthetists’ Certified agreement. Participation in the afterhours on-call/recall roster will be required which is remunerated in addition to the base salary.
