Intensive Care Registrars (2)

University Hospital Geelong, Barwon Health, is currently seeking Registrars to work in the Intensive Care Unit. Positions are for 6 or 12 months commencing August 7th 2017.

• Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years post graduation experience including 6 months acute care experience.
• FCICM/FANZCA/FACEM trainees are encouraged to apply.
• Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulatory Authority (AHPRA).

University Hospital Geelong is a 406 bed regional tertiary academic hospital located in South West Victoria, one hour from Melbourne. Services provided include Coronary Care and Interventional Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Oncology.

The College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) accredits the ICU as a general training unit (with Cardiothoracic and Paediatric exposure). There are nine FCICM Intensivists working in the unit with a variety of clinical interests and skills. We relocated into a brand new 24 bed ICU in mid 2014.

The ICU has over 1500 admissions a year, with a mix of cardiothoracic, medical and surgical patients. Whilst working in Geelong, registrars will have the chance to gain clinical experience in ECMO, echocardiography and paediatric critical care.

There is an established research department, with potential for registrars to become involved and undertake research during their employment. We have a strong commitment to teaching and a 100% pass rate for trainees undertaking the CICM Fellowship examination. There is a combined ICU/Anaesthetics first-part teaching program. Geelong Hospital is affiliated with Deakin University providing a curriculum for medical students and access to a Medical Simulation Laboratory.
