International Medical Graduate Program

Barwon Health offers a recognised International Medical Graduate (IMG) program supporting the commencement of your Australian Medical Career.  We offer a two week fully paid buddy orientation program welcoming you to our health service. Core learning provided to you in the first week encompasses an introduction to the Australian Health Care system and an opportunity to familiarise yourself with our leading health service. Week two includes fully supervised shadowing on the ward with support from our stellar Medical Education and Training team.

Job Description

The General stream for HMO3 rotates through a vast range of Units where you will get a broad perspective of all of the services that University Hospital Geelong, McKellar Centre and Colac hospital has to offer.  You will be an integral member of the team working alongside accredited and unaccredited registrars and consultant staff.  Positioned next to Deakin University Clinical School you can gain experience in supervision and teaching of students both on the ward and in the classroom.  The Medical Education Special Interest group runs the 'Near Peer teaching Program' and provides Teaching on The Run courses and mentorship in simulation teaching.

The HMO3 general stream pathway offers many different training experiences, suitable to your specific interests such as General Practice, a Certificate in O&G or provides opportunities in emergency suitable to a pathway into the HMO3 critical care year.

Our Emergency Department term is suitable for the paediatric requirement in General Practitioner training. Rotations include Emergency, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Intensive Care, Geriatrics, Psychiatry (Community or Inpatient rotations available) and a mandatory rotation at Colac Area Health Service.

Eligibility for Role

• Competent Authority Pathway, recognised qualification in speciality 
• 2 Years working experience as a Doctor

Salary

Base Annual: Determined by years of experience aligned to the AMA Victorian Public Health Sector Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement 2018 – 2021 (pending issue of the new agreement 2022 - 2025)

Salary Packaging: Salary Packaging will be accessible to all successful candidates. Salary packaging is an option of all Health Care employees to increase their take home income by reducing the amount of taxable incoming and the amount of tax you pay. Barwon Health offer the below options for packaging

• Living Expenses capped at $9,010 and includes repayments on mortgages, credit cards, personal loans and rental payments
• Meal Entertainment & Accommodation capped at $2,650 and includes food and drink consumed in a social or entertainment settings and some leisure accommodation expenditure
• Relocation no capped limit per year
• Portable Devices no capped limit per year, must be used for work purposes inclusive of Laptops, notebooks, or other portable computers, Tablet device, Smart Phone device and Smart Watches
