About the facility
Formed in 1998, Barwon Health is one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia, providing care at all stages of life and circumstance. Health services available through Barwon Health cover the full spectrum from primary care, community services, aged care, rehabilitation, mental health, emergency and acute care. With the exception of neurosurgery and transplantation, virtually all other specialties are available through University Hospital.
About the role
Are you looking for a Nursing Management opportunity? Would you like to be part of a highly skilled, professional, friendly team who take pride in providing high quality service? The Acute Access team at Barwon Health have an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced Registered Nurse – Grade 5.
This challenging position is responsible for but not limited to:
- Access and Resource Management, out of hours.
- Ensure inpatient beds are utilised in a planned way making every effort to admit patients to their speciality area.
- Acknowledge and facilitate, where appropriate, transfers to the ward from ED within agreed timeframes.
- Monitor length of stay in the ED and implementation of agreed contingency plans to address access block when required.
- Act as an organisational resource and incident coordinator during critical incidents and codes
- Oversee Barwon Health nursing staffing needs and responds to unplanned staffing deficits as resources allow.
As the successful applicant you will understand and support National Emergency Access Target (NEAT) and National Elective Surgical Target (NEST). Applicants must be willing to work shift work.
