About BMI

We are an innovative area with state of the art imaging.  We provide imaging to Barwon South Western region and are involved in teaching with Deakin Medical School and Melbourne training facilities for radiologists and radiographers.  We have Government awards for Service design and Innovation for our delivery of services and our afterhours patient support nurse.

About the role

Are you a Grade 2 Registered Nurse with energy and adaptability looking to join a friendly team based at the Leading Regional Health Care Service 2013? Do you have a passion for nursing and patient care? Barwon Health’s Medical Imaging team has an opportunity not to be missed. It is different and changeable and staff has to adapt to a variety of situations at any given time. We are seeking a Grade 2 Registered Nurses for a permanent part time role.  

Your role will be within this dynamic and challenging unit where teamwork is paramount and primary nursing is encouraged. You will have highly developed interpersonal skills as well as sound communication skills both verbal and written. It is important you can balance priorities to ensure timeframes are met. You will need to proactively and correctly assesses possible problems and takes actions to solve them accordingly, whilst building and maintaining the best possible relationships with patients and their families or carers.

The position involves interventional work, on call commitment with a variety guaranteed as different areas worked every day. Areas worked include angiography (not cardiac), Ultrasound, CT and Fluoroscopy. We also have a centre at McKellar now with CT and US as well.

All training is given to new staff in all areas of work and is hands on training.

Culture of department

Our staff group is friendly and social and enjoy working in a large department with other specialised staff and our doctors work closely with us in all areas and are always willing to teach. We hope we encourage education through in-services and also specialist training to the staff with workshops in Melbourne for Medical Imaging Nurses. All study is encouraged and the manager tries to accommodate everyone in this.
