About the facility
Barwon Medical Imaging (BMI) is the Department of Radiology at Barwon Health and has six imaging sites located across Geelong and Colac including comprehensive imaging at University Hospital Geelong, University Hospital Geelong Building B, Barwon Health North, McKellar Centre North Geelong and Colac Area Health - providing approximately 200,000 imaging exams per year for the hospital and community patients.
Barwon Medical Imaging provides a comprehensive range of diagnostic services including X-Ray, OPG, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Angiography, Mammography, and Nuclear Medicine/PET. These are performed by a team of highly skilled radiologists, radiographers, sonographers, nuclear medicine technologists, nurses and support staff who ensure that all patients have access to quality services. As the largest imaging provider in the region, BMI utilises State of the Art imaging equipment including the latest Siemens CT’s, MRI and PET (GE SPECT CT (2), Philip’s Digital x-ray and Angiography and ultrasound machines, all supported by fully integrated AGFA RIS, Fujifilm PACS (Synapse) and Soliton dictation software.
About the role
We are seeking a motivated Consultant Radiologist interested in undertaking a fixed term position concluding at the end of October 2022. The successful candidate will be able to provide high-quality, efficient radiologist services and radiologist expertise in the setting of public hospitals and community settings and will participate in teaching, training, QA activities, research and clinical-radiological meetings.
Candidates will need to have unrestricted Medical Registration and eligible for Medicare specialist provider number with broad general radiology skills, with a subspecialty interest and expertise an advantage. Participation in the department’s on-call roster at University Hospital Geelong, providing imaging support to an Emergency Department with over 78,000 presentations per year may be required.
BMI currently employs 23 radiologists/nuclear medicine physicians and 14 RANZCR accredited registrars/fellows. University Hospital Geelong is the major clinical school for the Deakin University Medical School.
