About the facility

The Speech Pathology department provides services to a wide range of clinical areas to clients with swallowing and communication disorders. Speech Pathology is predominantly inpatient focused with some outpatient services provided in head and neck, voice and paediatrics. A strict criterion exists for outpatient and paediatric services.

Speech Pathology staff are supported in their professional practice, by attendance at professional development opportunities, regular review of evidence based practice, professional supervision and access to training and competency packages.  

About the role

In this role you will

  • Develop, implement and evaluate the strategic and operational plans for the Acute Speech Pathology service in conjunction with the Manager, Speech Pathology.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Manager, Speech Pathology in his/her absence as delegated.
  • Contribute to the management of an appropriate specialist clinical load in the Acute Program.
  • Manage portfolios of responsibility as allocated by the Manager, Speech Pathology

Selection Criteria Essential: Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) or equivalent
Essential: Eligible for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia
Essential: Excellent organisational, time management, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Essential: Experience in managing professional staff
Essential: Experience providing clinical education skills
Essential: Experience in developing and presenting educational programs
Essential: Experience in policy and service development and implementation.
Essential: Experience in quality activities in accordance with the National Safety & Quality Healthcare Standards.
Essential: Experience in fostering a well-functioning Speech Pathology team within an acute context.
