About the facility

Barwon Health’s McKellar Centre is a facility located only minutes from the centre of Geelong. It is situated on a vibrant community asset with parkland surrounds and incorporates state of the art equipment. Wallace Lodge, located at the McKellar Centre, is a 108 bed, high level, aged care residential facility. We offer focused professional development with dedicated nursing educators on site, set within new state-of-the-art facilities.

Since 2006, more than 580 people have called Wallace Lodge home. 5 of those residents still live there today.

About the role

As the Nurse Unit Manager you will see the provision of Clinical leadership within the unit including overseeing the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual resident care, to maximise choice and quality of life for each resident. You will form part of the management team at Wallace Lodge and work closely with the Facility Manager in developing, managing and evaluating facility performance.

To be successful in this role you will possess the following skills:

  • Ability to takes a leadership role in strategic and daily issues
  • Proven ability to manage change
  • Extensive clinical knowledge, skills and experience in Residential Aged Care.
  • Demonstrated understating of Aged Care Standards and Accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI)
  • Demonstrated ability in the development of cohesive teams and sound knowledge of team functioning
