About Barwon Health
Barwon health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.
About the role
The Regional Partnership Officer is responsible for coordinating and supporting efforts to improve service delivery for communities of the Barwon South West (BSW) Region through greater collaboration and partnerships. The role has responsibility for supporting and coordinating collaboration priorities as agreed and defined by the Barwon South West (BSW) Regional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Council. This role will support the BSW Partnership to:
- Influence change across the BSW Region towards embracing a stronger regional leadership role
- Increase the role that public health services play across its region as leaders in delivery of clinical care
- Establish partnerships between health service providers to improve integrated care and access to services
- Establish partnerships between health service providers to improve business efficiency and strengthen governance
- Lead and/or influence work to develop new service delivery models in partnership with key stakeholders
This work is aligned to the Department of Health (DH) Rural and Regional Health Partnerships program, which aims to:
- improve the safety and quality of care to patients
- increase the capacity and accessibility of care and regional self-sufficiency
- strengthen the sustainability of rural services and their workforce
The Rural and regional health partnership guidelines 2020 were released in December 2019, requiring partnership members to sign a memorandum of understanding that emphasises shared decision-making and outlines the scope of works for health partnerships across three key activity areas:
- clinical governance support
- workforce planning, recruitment and development
- corporate effectiveness.
