About the facility
Barwon health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 7,000 staff and more than 1000 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 24 key locations throughout the region.
The Andrew Love Cancer Centre (ALCC) is a comprehensive cancer centre that has provided expert care to those affected by cancer in Geelong and southwest Victoria in a supportive and caring environment since 1992.
Our service gives adults living in the Barwon South West region access to world class cancer treatment. Based in Geelong, we have state-of-the-art facilities, equipment and highly skilled health professionals who provide personalised treatment and care. Chemotherapy, haematology and radiotherapy services are provided at the Andrew Love Cancer Centre.
About the role
Barwon Health now has an exciting leadership opportunity with Cancer Services. This vacancy is for the role of Nurse Unit Manager within the ALCC 16 bed Chemotherapy Day Ward and provides treatments including chemotherapy, blood product transfusions, specimen collections, Hickman's care, venesections and other procedures.
The primary objective of this role is to provide leadership, planning and delivery of a high quality service whilst developing and maintaining a professional and collaborative partnership in the overall management of Barwon Health.
You must be a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Health related post graduate qualifications will be highly regarded. You must have a significant level of nursing skill, staff management and a proven commitment to flexibility and innovation in practice. You will have a demonstrated ongoing commitment to professional development, have sound communication, time management and problem solving skills.
