- A 12 month learning position in the Swanston Centre Adult Inpatient Unit as a Registered Nurse with a 3-4 month rotation working as a supported case manager at the Aged Persons Community Mental Health Service.
- Support from the Graduate/Post Graduate/TTMHNP program to assist you with clinical and academic tasks which lead to recognition of prior learning into a Graduate Diploma of Mental Health Nursing (post grad)
- Work in a recovery oriented service

Swanston Centre
The Swanston Centre Acute Unit located only minutes to the CBD of Geelong and our vibrant waterfront is a 32 bed acute psychiatric admission unit providing Recovery Orientated care delivery for people aged 16 and over, experiencing the effects of major mental illness/distress.
Aged Psychiatric Community Service (3-4 month rotation)
This service is for people over 65 years with existing complex mental illness, those who develop a mental illness later in life and those who have severe behavioural problems associated with dementia.
Services include assessment and intervention, case management, outreach and secondary consultation. Those who require additional services to avoid a potential hospital admission may, after discussion with the client and family, be offered an intensive community treatment program.
About the role
Considering a career in mental health nursing? Working as a registered nurse or had 2 years or more experience as a Psychiatric Enrolled Nurse and recently completed your Div 1? Come and join our program! We are seeking registered nurses who have a passion for working with people with a lived experience of mental illness and their loved ones to join our annual intake of applicants to the Transition to Mental Health Nursing Program (TTMHNP).
Transition to the Mental Health Program Nurses (TTMHPNs) are employed in a 12 month capacity within the Swanston Centre Inpatient Unit, complete a 3-4 month rotation at the community Aged psychiatry service and join a study program with the MHDAS Education team. TTMHPNs participate in multiple study days with the Graduate Group and complete academic tasks to compliment their learning and professional development. Successful completion of the program affords graduates to receive recognition for prior learning into a (Post) Graduate Diploma of Mental Health Nursing.
