About the facility 

Barwon Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Service (BMHDAS) provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families. Our service is internationally recognised for its innovative clinical programs and integrated models of practice that are client centred, accessible and family inclusive.

About the role 

This is a part time role for a new graduate Occupational Therapist and/or Social Worker within the mental health service. As the successful applicant in this newly created role you will help consumers and their families navigate mental health services. It will provide connections and assistance for consumers and their families to access services that enrich and improve their wellbeing and health. This role works directly with clinical staff as part of a multidisciplinary team. This is an entry to practice role and will receive both education and clinical supervision.

Essential: Undergraduate qualification in either Social Work or Occupational Therapy
Essential: Excellent demonstrated customer service and communication skills
Essential: A strong interest in working in mental health and a clear understanding of recovery principles
Desirable: Previous experience working in a customer service setting, particularly as part of a team, either paid or voluntary
Desirable: Previous experience in working in mental health and or drug and alcohol settings, either in a paid or voluntary capacity
Essential: A willingness to complete all academic tasks and clinical hurdles associated with this role and participate fully in graduate study days
Essential: A current Victorian drivers licence
