About the facility

This role is based at our Central Geelong (city)  location and is co-located with Headspace. Jigsaw provides specialist early intervention for young people with or at risk of developing psychotic disorders and treatment services for young people with drug and alcohol and /or high prevalence disorders. Under the auspices of Barwon Health Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol Service, it also forms a central component of the  Youth Services and is actively involved in service development and innovation to assist and promote early and effective mental health and drug and alcohol interventions for young people.

About the role

This position, along with the remainder of JIGSAW participates in the provision of mental health drug and alcohol care to young people aged 16-25 years in the Barwon Region. Specifically, this role is responsible for the delivery of best practice, evidence-based treatment and support to young people with major mental health concerns or at risk mental state.

As a Jigsaw clinician you would be working within a multi-disciplinary team to provide care and support for young people and their carers.

The position is based at the JIGSAW City site however the successful applicant will demonstrate flexibility to the needs of young people in respect to access and provide outreach treatment and support where possible.

Selection Criteria Essential: Can you please list Barwon Health's values?

Essential: Formal professionally recognised qualifications in Psychiatric Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Clinical Psychology. Nurses should be registered with the Victorian Nursing Council as a RPN3.
Essential: Knowledge of the underlying principles, clinical care and best practice models associated with youth mental health, in particularly those pertaining to evidence based treatments for mental illness and drug and alcohol issues occurring during youth
Essential: Thorough knowledge of the objectives and provisions of the Mental Health Act (2014)
Essential: Demonstrated high level of clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of young people with mental health disorders in a community setting
Essential: Current Victorian Drivers Licence
Desirable: A qualification specialising in Alcohol and other Drugs or Addiction studies, equivalent or above the Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs work, or a willingness to work towards this.
