Position Summary

Consultant Psychiatrists (VMO) – ADULT PSYCHIATRY – two positions each of 7 sessions

The Victorian Premier’s Health Service of the Year 2011 and 2013, located in Geelong – a picturesque city on Corio Bay with the city of Melbourne being just 45 minutes away by road – is seeking  two Consultant Psychiatrist interested in working for 7 sessions over 4 days each per week supporting an adult mental health team psychiatry team, including supervising a College trainee.

These opportunities would suit passionate, experienced and committed psychiatrists who would like to work to support an active and enthusiastic mental health service working in the Adult Psychiatry Service. Barwon Health operated an integrated mental health model and the successful psychiatrists would have a community, inpatient and rehabilitation role. Each position is supported by a College Trainee Registrar.
The two positions are based with the Northern Adult Community Mental Health Team based between the University Hospital Geelong and the Corio Community Health Centre and the Eastern Adult Community Mental Health Team based between the University Hospital Geelong and the Newcomb Community Health Centre.

Barwon Health is currently working through a transformation change process, reviewing our models of care and aiming to deliver world class, recovery-oriented, person-centred, family-inclusive, evidence-based and trauma-informed care. The successful applicants will be expected to engage with this process and lead change within their clinical team.
Applicants must hold the FRANZCP, be accredited as a supervisor by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, and be registered with general or specialist medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Rate of pay is as per the Victorian AMA Agreement 2013.
