About the facility
The Barwon Health ICU is a 24-bed ICU, providing tertiary critical care services to the Barwon South Western region. The ICU cares for medical, surgical, and cardiothoracic adults, as well as collaborative programs to care for adult ECMO and critically ill children. The ICU unit supplies a central vascular access and critical care echocardiography service to Barwon Health. The ICU is actively involved in clinical research, critical care education for Deakin School of Medicine, and education and training of junior doctors and nurses.
About the role
As the Staff Specialist you will be required to provide high quality and appropriate care in the Intensive Care Unit, University Hospital Geelong, Barwon Health.
Duties of the role include but are not limited to:
- Providing inpatient critical care services for both public and private patients.
- The delivery of safe, effective and efficient care in the Intensive Care Unit
- Ensuring that patients admitted to your care (or their guardians) are appropriately and as fully informed as possible of their medical condition and the planned treatment they will receive and, in particular, given adequate information to allow the patients to make informed decisions regarding treatment choices
- Providing inpatient critical care services for both public and private patients.
