About the Role

As the Director of Medical Services you will support and work closely with the Chief Medical Officer in providing the following:

  • Clinical governance and professional leadership to medical staff across Barwon Health
  • Professional leadership to medical staff across Barwon Health and expert medical administrative advice to the Barwon Health Chief Executive and other members of the executive
  • Professional oversight and fostering of safe, high quality care, clinical governance, continuous quality improvement and transparency
  • Support to the clinical directors leadership team
  • In addition as the Director of Medical Services you will be required to:
  • Support clinical governance activities across Barwon Health
  • Support the Medical Workforce Unit
  • Support Medical Workforce in the coordination of Senior Medical Staff Credentialing
  • Supporting Medical Education and Training Unit
  • Undertake projects relevant to medical administration, from time to time, as directed by the Chief Medical Officer

Essential: Fully qualified medical practitioner with AHPRA registration without conditions, undertakings or reprimands
Essential: Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators or substantial progress towards such qualification
Essential: Demonstrated experience in contemporary clinical and administrative aspects of medicine and health issues in large metropolitan/regional health services and small rural health services.
Essential: Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the main functions of a Medical Administrator.
Essential: Demonstrated ability to secure the goodwill and cooperation of medical staff and the other service staff to ensure high standards of patient care.
Essential: Demonstrated high level skills in developing and leading multidisciplinary teams and working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
