About the facility 

Mental Health Drugs and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) provides integrated and recovery oriented mental health, drugs and alcohol assessment, treatment and community support to people of all ages within the Barwon region experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, mental health and drug & alcohol issues, and their families.

About the role 

The Barwon Health MHDAS provides assessment and treatment to consumers with serious mental health issues living in the Geelong region. The Community Rehabilitation Facility (CRF) provides an extended residential service, while the co-located Prevention and Recovery Care (PARC) service offers a step up and step down service; offered as either residential, day program or outreach support. Both aspects of the service work within a recovery framework as a best practice model, and aspire to the care delivered to the consumer being of the highest standard.

Applicants without the post graduate mental health component are encouraged to apply, however would only be considered if prepared to undertake and successfully complete recognised training within two years of commencement date for the position to remain ongoing.

Essential: Registered Nurse Div. 1 (with Postgraduate Diploma in psychiatric/mental health nursing or completion of a specialist undergraduate nursing program or a specialist post basic course of training leading to previous registration as a Division 3 nurse)
Essential: Current registration with AHPRA and demonstrates compliance with AHPRA's registration standards
Essential: Current Victorian Driver's License
Desirable: Thorough knowledge of the objectives and provision of the Mental Health Act (2014) and its amendments.
Desirable: Sound knowledge of current psychiatric principles and practices
Desirable: Previous experience in mental health nursing
