About Barwon Health and the team

Barwon health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. We provide care at all stages or life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care, and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.

The environmental services teams’ primary role is to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff, in accordance with Victorian Healthcare Cleaning Standards and the National Safety and Quality Health Services Standards.  

About the role 

The primary role is to undertake a combination of cleaning, food & beverage delivery, patient and non-patient related transportation and support across the facility; in accordance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards. To provide advice and guidance to all Patient Service Assistants working within Environmental Services and provide adequate supervision and manage resources effectively. The effective and efficient cleaning of the facility; including public, staff, inpatient and clinical areas; together with the operation of waste disposal and recycling systems; ensuring a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff in accordance with the Victorian Healthcare Cleaning Standards.
