About the facility
Barwon health is the major regional health provider for the Barwon South West region. It is one of Victoria’s largest regional health service with one of the busiest hospitals in the state, University Hospital. We serve over 500,000 people through the efforts of over 8,000 staff and more than 1200 volunteers. We provide care at all stages of life and circumstance through a wide range of services from emergency and acute to mental health, primary care, community services, aged care and subacute/rehabilitation. Care is provided to the community through over 28 key locations throughout the region.
About the Role
The Clinical/Health/Counselling Psychologist (“Psychologist”) is responsible for psychological assessment and consumer-centred intervention within Barwon Health. This role is responsible for ensuring contemporary evidence-based psychology services for clients within the clinical setting. The Psychologist is also required to provide secondary consultation to the treating team in relation to psychological issues associated with injury or medical conditions with the aim of maximizing the efficacy of the full range of interventions delivered. The Psychologist will also assist in the supervision of Grade 2 Psychologists and Masters and Doctoral students.

Selection Criteria

Essential: Can you please list Barwon Health's values?
Essential: Can you please choose one of Barwon Health's values and describe a situation in the workplace where you have displayed this value?
Essential: Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychology.
Essential: Registered as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with specialist endorsement as a Clinical, Health or Counselling Psychologist.
Essential: Registered as a supervisor with AHPRA.
Desirable: Current experience working with clients in a hospital and outpatient setting as well as knowledge of the underlying principles, clinical care and best practice models associated with the psychological impact of trauma and medical and neurological conditions.
Desirable: Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including a diverse client base, community service agencies, community groups and individuals who have limited resources.
Desirable: I agree to meet Barwon Health’s immunisation requirements (including full COVID vaccination) as set out in Barwon Health’s Staff Immunisation Policy as amended from time to time. I acknowledge that meeting this ongoing requirement is mandatory and a condition of any employment subsequently offered.
